Rainy Days and Mondays

When I was in my youth a long, long, long time ago...rainy days and Mondays always got me down...to borrow from a song of my generation.  One of the nicest things about getting older is that it takes a very unusual Monday or a very unusual rainy day to get me down.  Most any day is a gem for me.

This is my yard on rain.

Even if the day brings down a 50-year-old tulip poplar and compromises the bat house (which is home to wasps) it still is beautiful in its magnificence.

And just look at all the bronze coins its has unearthed!

  1. I love the Carpenters and can still sing along to almost every word of their songs. So tragic about Karen, but it did awaken the nation to a dreadful disease. That was the first I had ever heard of anorexia.

You take a positive spin on all of the rain. Love the bronze.

  4. April showers bring May flowers
(And Mayflowers bring Pilgrims - LOL!)

It's nice to appreciate each season and all types of weather for their unique attributes.

  5. I remember the song, of course, but now that I'm retired Monday is no different from any other day. You can call a day whatever you like and swap them around!
    Great post, though.

  6. Hi There, wondered if you were out-of-town. Haven't seen you around much lately.

I love the Carpenters --and that song... I have always enjoyed rain and rainy days. BUT--when it goes on for a week (like it has here this week), WELL---then I'm ready for some sunshine!!!!!

Great pictures. Too bad the bat house is being used by wasps... Poor bats!!!!!

    Have a good day.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  10. Rainy here too, so glad I got a lot of plants in the ground first. It's lovely, gives me more time to play music. Mondays were always my days off, having done shows on the weekends. Retirement is so good to me. Your yard looks beautiful, rain, downed tree and all.

  14. Not many of us are willing to tromp around in the rain and wet to capture such pictures. This makes yours really rare and very lovely. I for one am glad you are a dedicated and skilled photographer.

  15. I remember rain. What a concept! Strange to see so much of it north and east of here, while nada lands here.

But nah - there's no such thing as global warming, just keep those fossil fuels burning.
