Masked Men

About 75 of these cedar waxwings flew into my backyard the other day.  They were intrigued at what all the other birds were doing at the feeders, but did not join them.  Sometimes they come into the water dish and I was hoping they would so that I could take a closer photo.  I fiddled with this photo above since it was taken through the window and has a misty feel to it a a result..you know, that double "pained" look. (Click image for closer view.)  Maybe it can be my new banner for this blog?

Maybe some of my readers remember the drama with Zorro a few years ago.  If not you can go here and here and if you need a conclusion to the drama you can click here.

  1. I've never seen these before, they truly ARE like masked men, aren't they? Double-pained or not, it's still a wonderful capture.

  3. The picture is beautifully ethereal looking. We don't get cedar wax wings here, but we did recently have an influx of dozens and dozens of robins and blackbirds descending in our backyard in shifts... Strange... I'll be back to read the links and get the full story :)

  8. I was thinking it would make a great mural, but a banner certainly. I love the misty feel, wouldn't want to change that!
    A real masterpiece.

  10. That's an amazing photograph. It would be very nice framed. Is your resolution good enough to do so?

  11. The post before this was a cardinal who was bossy, not a jay.(apologies) Your cedar waxwings here are just so handsome! *sigh* I love the double pain effect, it does look misty. The yellow leaves create a nice rhythmic effect. Lovely. The birds are like all of "us" coming to visit you too. Lots of company. =D

  14. Fabulous header! I love the misty look. When I was a small girl, I was sure cedar waxwings had been hand-painted. They still look that way to me.

  15. Beautiful picture, it looks like one of those amazing wallpapers you sometimes see in old stately homes, I don't know why it reminds me of that, something about the subtle shades. Things taken through a rainy or misty window can look very good.

  16. Hi There, I love the 'masked men'... Those Waxwings are such beautiful birds --but they do not come to bird feeders...

One time we were visiting a waterfall ---and I happened to see a bunch of Cedar Waxwings... I got so excited that I even forgot about the waterfall... ha ha
