Feeling Red

We had a long, hot, dry, crackly summer in my county. The result is usually a brown and crackly fall. But we have been blessed with more than 6 inches of rain in September through October and the colors of our fall have been awesome. The kind of awesome that means long walks in the woods, the awesome that inspires lovers and poets and it makes up for the hellish month of July.

We have had a pallette of reds that inspire.

Orange

Peachy

Pumpkin
Rose

Coral

Wine

Undecided

Of course on your monitor depending on its settings and your mood they can look like lipstick, chile powder, paprika, or even rust!

  4. Yup, we (Doreen and I) were only saying the other day that the colours were as good as we can recall, but now the wind has ravaged them rather.

  9. Beautiful colors - I seem to have mostly gold colors in my Southern woods.

  10. Are those some sassafras leaves I see? Wonderful colors! We don't get much of it down here - the pecan leaves quickly turn flaming brown, and the live oaks don't even lose their leaves this time of year.

So thanks for the fall tidbits I've been missing.

  20. They are the best days up on The Continent. Funny how the change is never the same one year to the next.

Glad you're having such a glorious fall and good rains - a nice consolation prize after the long, hot, dry summer.
