These fairy ballerinas in their silken costumes last way too short a time dancing in the spring winds. They swirl and twirl and waft on grape perfume and then are gone almost before the wind dies down. You must click on them to feel the breath of a spring wind on your face.
sigh. so lovely. delicate...the colors in that last one...beautiful
ReplyDeleteIrises always remind me of ballerinas in their tutus. I agree with Brian. Brilliant captures Tabor. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe took bunches of these to lay on family graves on Memorial Day. My dad called them "flags". The reference is to a fluer de lis, and I do not know how prevelant that name is. But, by any name, they are lovely.
ReplyDeleteOur Iris are so beautiful and we celebrate them every year. Your photos are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe Iris are so beautiful this time of year.
ReplyDeleteBoth my grandmothers called them flags as well, I'd forgotten.
Your words reflect the beauty and awesomeness of these flowers. I hope you will enjoy photographing more.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and a brilliant quote.
ReplyDeleteThey are just starting to bloom here too. Many people use them to decorate graves on Memorial Day. I hope they last that long. such ephemeral beauty.
ReplyDeleteFor the short time these blooms are here they pack a real punch.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous captures of these beauties. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey are just luscious!! Mine are pure white, but this year only 5-6 of them bloomed, and then the rain and cold got them. I wish mine were as colorful as yours.
ReplyDeleteWOW. Those are just magnificent. They look so graceful. Beautiful shots! Well done.
ReplyDeleteSuperb pictures.
ReplyDeleteOur flags are just beginning to bloom. I don't have any of those colors. Lovely photos, I can sure see their dance costumes.
