No matter.
Actually lots of matter
Possessing space
Balanced so perfectly
Centuries of equilibrium
Static granite
Steadfast
It holds a pose
What 2 footed
Passed beside
Centuries of equilibrium?
Potential energy
Release locked
Waiting for the earth
To shrug her shoulders
once again?
Oh, I love it! Good writing! Great photo. Wonderful nature.
ReplyDeletethat is cool...we have a similar rock up off the AT...pretty amazing the balance it finds....something we can learn eh?
ReplyDeleteSuch majesty and mystery.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful. Your words made me think especially of those who have passed by this spot.
ReplyDeleteAll of nature is a balancing act -- it's just not usually so obvious.
ReplyDeleteNow that's an interesting erratic or maybe it isn't an erratic, but interesting arrangement of rock.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I love rocks like that and I wish I still had that much balance...lol
ReplyDeleteHow did the stones get there??????? Great poem Tabor.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to be anywhere near this rock when Mother Nature shrugs her shoulders!
ReplyDeletetHAt's stunning stuff.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely post. Still, I don't think I'd want to sit on top of that.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.... Love your header too.... We see lots of boulders like that on our hikes... I have a blog post coming up on Friday this week talking about a hike we took called "Chained Rock".. it's in Kentucky --and they actually chained a huge boulder on top of the mountain to protect the small town below.....Interesting hike and story.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
