Energy and Inertia

No matter.
Actually lots of matter
Possessing space
Balanced so perfectly
Centuries of equilibrium
Static granite
Steadfast
It holds a pose
What 2 footed
Passed beside
Centuries of equilibrium?
Potential energy
Release locked
Waiting for the earth
To shrug her shoulders
 once again?

Very beautiful. Your words made me think especially of those who have passed by this spot.

All of nature is a balancing act -- it's just not usually so obvious.

Now that's an interesting erratic or maybe it isn't an erratic, but interesting arrangement of rock.

I don't want to be anywhere near this rock when Mother Nature shrugs her shoulders!

Very lovely post. Still, I don't think I'd want to sit on top of that.

Great post.... Love your header too.... We see lots of boulders like that on our hikes... I have a blog post coming up on Friday this week talking about a hike we took called "Chained Rock".. it's in Kentucky --and they actually chained a huge boulder on top of the mountain to protect the small town below.....Interesting hike and story.

Hugs,
Betsy
