It Is the Season

In Florida it is spring.  We had to wear sweaters and jackets as that polar express did touch all the way across the Florida peninsula on some days, but it was still spring here and the birds are nesting.  These blue herons are such awkward and exotic looking birds.  They stand staunchly like hunched-back old people with a serious grumpiness problem, but when they fly effortlessly it becomes magical.  I wish I could stay and watch the little ones grow and fledge.

  1. Hmm I think you just described me. ..hunchbacked and grumpy. I am desperately in need of a change. :) I have been watching the bluebirds condo shop so I know that spring really is hidden in this snow and ice. How awesome it would be to see those herons fledge.

  4. Florida can get cold, just like here in the south Louisiana swamps, but it doesn't last as long and it isn't as hard to bear as up North. We are grateful.

  5. I thought it was spring here. the birds and budding plants thinks it's spring but the cold temps and overcast skies make it hard to believe.

  8. We have lots of experience with great blue herons here on the Pacific coast. I love watching them fish in the lagoon on Whidbey Island.
