This morning as I write this, the crackle of ice as it slides from the naked arms of tall trees and hits the ground makes for a noisy morning. While the temperature is still 27F that wind is pushing the ice off. Some of the icing is hard and jagged and you would not want it hitting you on the head!
All the same, it made for an excellent opportunity to carefully walk across the less slippery areas and take photos.
Now I must head back inside for something warm to drink. In the next post I will share some lovely sunrise and sunset colors against the ice which was with us for several days.
The photos are really beautiful! Hope you guys warm up soon...
ReplyDeleteIce storms can be the most dangerous, but also the most beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGood job...and I hope you had on a hat, in case ice headed toward your head! Those photos capture some of the beauty that ice storms provide!
ReplyDeletewe are finally out of the deep freeze with temps in the high 50s and no more freezing nights. I like ice coated things in pictures but not in real life.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures brought back a memory -- an ice storm that went us home from school when I was young and I thought I had been dropped into a fairy world. I stood under the willow in the back yard and it seemed a crystal palace with branches weighted down to the ground and clinking in the wind.
ReplyDeleteI hate ice storms but I love photographing them. You are fortunate to have had such beauty without losing power and having to live in the cold.
ReplyDeleteThat's sort of like when you have lemons make lemonade. so when there's ice get lots of great photos.
ReplyDeleteThe magic of ice, the sounds is a classy moment with Nature. Glad you didn't get conked with any big pieces.
ReplyDeleteIce and snow on trees is just about the best.
ReplyDeleteIce storms are probably one of the worst features of winter. They are hazardous and can cause a good deal of damage to infrastructure, and they seal of natural food for wildlife. In balance, I don't mind winter, but ice storms I can do without.
ReplyDeleteIt is always great to see the beauty in the cold and frost instead of the negative. Glad you weren’t hit harder by that weather system, Tabor.
ReplyDeleteWe had such beautiful danger here, too. It is certainly a masterwork from certain points of view.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are wonderful. It does indeed look like a fairyland.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the trees. I heard a radio article this morning, that the widespread planting of trees may not save the planet, as global warming makes photosynthesis difficult.
