Early summer storms prepare us for dramatic times ahead.
With hurricane season just around the corner, I am enjoying the calmness of these weeks (days) ahead.
As I wander down by the river I notice that the little goslings are getting their adult colors and soon will no longer need such careful watching by the adult geese.
It all 'almost' seems the earth is returning to a pre-COVID routine. It is moving back to the climate change new "normal".
Yes, the change of seasons has changed in quality...though I may be no expert. It seems in the last 20 years we've moved away from a gradual change to these more dramatic shifts. I remember noticing it maybe 10 years ago, though I don't know when it began. One week hot, one week cold...very wet for a month, or very dry.
ReplyDeleteI think that whether life is returning to normal or not depends very much where in the world you live. Progress is very slow here!
ReplyDeleteI have actually enjoyed nature during COVID. More birds appeared and deer made much braver appearances. Of course I did not care for the coyote that was also brave and killed two of my guinea fowl.
ReplyDeleteThe clouds parted and the rain dried up for our day of celebration yesterday. There was hugging all around. It was lovely.
ReplyDeleteIn my garden flowering is abundant now too. It seems that early spring gradually builds until it erupts in the full glory of June abundance.
Our weather is also variable, and it has scarcely rained in a month and a half. The town’s water supply is on the edge.
ReplyDeleteit's been brutally hot and humid here after it finally stopped raining. we went from a prolonged spring straight to high summer.
ReplyDeleteAw, the goslings are so cute. You have a good expanse of sky for your nice photos. It is interesting to read how areas of the Atlantic coast bloom, think of weather, and seasonal changes. Hurricane season vs. mosquito & tick season is a comparison to think about.
ReplyDeleteWe had a feels like 40 C day and two days later a frost warning. Changeable indeed.
ReplyDeleteIt's rather scary. Like so many things, it looks like we forget almost as soon as we learn.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit of a relief, somehow, to only have one catastrophic thing to worry about. I dread the fire season here again in Oregon.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow roses are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Yes, climate change normal. Here in California we reopen today. It's to be in the 80's at the doctor's office. Fire season is here as is the no water season. Our reservoirs are almost totally empty.
ReplyDeleteWe're into a heat wave here in SoCal -- 3 digit temps. We're told to harness our power usage during the afternoon 'til 10 p.m. but haven't had any outages. So, my AC doing it's job as is the car unit. Enjoyed your photos.
