Purple Midgets

These jolly spring-colored elves arrived in my herb bed on March 1 in a semi-circle at the bottom of our tiny cherry tree.  I had to get down in the mud to take these photos...but I didn't care.  It was after a long day of weeding and mulching and I was already dirty, so this was my reward.

Today the snow melted over the crocus patch. The rain has washed it away. It will be a few weeks before mine blossom. Thank you for the wallow in the garden mud to share yours, Tabor.

Sweet. I used to love discovering they'd popped up, sometimes through melting snow, when I lived far enough north for such magnificent little things. Good memories.
