Dagnabbit Rabbit

After the loss of many new plants, some purchased at great expense and others nurtured from seedlings many, many weeks ago, I have managed to finish an area of the fence to keep out the lone rabbit that insists on making my flower garden his early morning and early evening buffet. It makes me sick to walk outside and see a stump where a lovely plant once was. I am taking and showing some photos, just in the event there are none to show when he digs his new hole under the fence.

It looks better than it actually is.

  1. my purple coneflowers are almost done, looking faded and turning brown. is the other purple phlox? my zinnias are doing well. I know what you mean by looking better than it is. we can give a glorified view with close-ups. I started pulling out the dead love-in-a-mist and larkspur now that the seed pods are all empty.

  2. The flowers are all so beautiful! My flowers are being attacked by the nymphs of leaf hoppers; tiny white things that jump before I can catch them. They cause the stems to fall over, leaving the buds to wilt and die. I hope your fence will keep out the rabbit!

  3. But they are sooo cute!

THey were eating my tomato plants until I read on some internet article that a plastic fork, tines to the sky will deter rabbits. I placed one fork by each plant and as stupid as it sounds they are never bothered. It has worked with the few flowers I have planted as well.

    1. Well that is a new one on me. I spray repellent which makes my yard smell like lots of urine.
