City Winter

I am sure that not enough cold and wintry photos have been posted in blog-land.  But these are the first that I dug from last month's archives.

Just before the Christmas Holiday and actually a day before my birthday, we got a large snowfall in the area.  As little as eleven inches in some places and closer to two feet where I was staying, at my daughter's house in the city, where we drove to help her with the little ones.  I admit I was torn not being able to be in my woods to capture the first virginal snowfall of the year, but city suburbs have their winter beauty, even if different and slightly limited.  Below are some of the things I saw through the windows (mostly clean) of my daughter's house while holding small children up high so they could share the view with me.  I have become somewhat adept at holding a camera in one hand and a child on the other hip.

  1. We have snow here, but not much and, although today is bitterly cold, the prediction is for it to go above zero in the days ahead and for us to loose the little snow we have.

I love the second picture with the little bird just poking out from behind the tree.

  4. I heard about your HUGE snow before Christmas, Tabor. I've never seen that much snow at one time in my entire life. Totally awesome--but of course, that's easy for me to say since I don't have to shovel it or get out in it.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  5. Your photo of the morning dove is so sweet. I never tire of snowy photos. Well, perhaps that's not quite true, but I'm happy to see what it looks like in your neck of the woods and others far and near.
Our snow came more gradually, over a period of weeks. It seems to have been snowing (mostly lightly) forever! And cold, boy is it cold!
Clever you balancing a child while manning your camera. I'd like to try it but my little boys are a bit too big for that now :)

  9. We've had the bitter cold but very little snow so far. I'm mildly disappointed for the lack of photo opportunities without much snow.. but then I remember the shovel. ;)
