71 Years Ago Today

Such a peaceful and pastoral seen.  Canola blooming in the distance and the horizon of the Atlantic Ocean just beyond, a perfect spring day.

Perhaps this path existed 71 years ago to connect one farm house to another?  Perhaps today it is used for hikers and walkers to stretch their legs.

But 71 years ago today this land was filled with explosions and blood and the cry of young men as they fought their way ashore.

They were fighting for peace, so leaving the place so peaceful and beautiful is a fitting tribute to their sacrifice.

The imagination runs as we think of the horror of the time and now we look at a peaceful pastoral scene. Our politicians should be taken to a place like this and left alone for a time. I think they'd be less tempted to enter war.
