The Sneeze

(This post was written several weeks ago.)

The woods had been muffled
By stunning white cotton
and downy feathers of snow.
I had been fighting a cold
and therefore avoiding people.

All that I heard
was the squeak of my boots
and the click of my camera.
But THEN suddenly,
somewhere a tree
sneezed
shaking white crystals all around
my shoulders.

(Click on photo if you want a sneeze in your face.)

  1. Wow, thats where you live. I cannot fathom how to live in such an environment. We freak out here if we get a spec of snow.

  5. Ha! If I may, I 'd like to borrow that analogy - the tree sneezing - and introduce it to my students who are learning to write poetry.

  14. Beautiful word imagery, Tabor.
I love it when the trees are covered with snow (as they were this morning), and those little sparkly showers when the snow is loosened.
