Disclaimer: Last Photo May Offend

This mockingbird was a surprise visitor to the deck the other day.  They seemed to be noisier and friendlier at my old house in the suburbs.  These woods do not seem to have many.  I don't think that I hear them much...but since they are 'mockingbirds' how do I know?  I had scattered some seeds for the little wrens that live under the deck and this fellow showed up to see what all the excitement was about.

The photos are better than I expected since I was taking them through a double paned glass door.  I guess cleaning the inside of the window paid off.

Clearly he did not feel there was anything of interest to keep him as he mooned me for a few seconds before flying off.  (It seems that everyone is a comedian!)

mooned by a mockingbird! lol

those photos are marvelous. my feeder was visited by a spate of grackles the other day and I got to see them close up - they have tiny v-shaped bands of white on their breast feathers - and the camera was battery-less!

What a nice little bird (from the front). Birds stay away from my house, to the great disappointment of cat Natalie.

Ha Ha Ha.... That mockingbird was just trying to tell you to give him something BETTER to eat!!!!! ha

Love it!!!! We supposedly have mockers around here but I've never seen them at my feeders... Guess I don't have the right food either! ha

Welcome home. How was your trip?
Hugs,
Betsy

Too funny. Little mockingbutt. They really are a very curious and friendly bird. One of my favourites.

Nope, Betsy, not back yet. Still among the geriatric set in Florida with lots of photos to eventually post. These were posts I wrote just before I left.

I'm cleaning my windows tomorrow! That must be why my bird photos aren't as good as these! ;-)

I'm laughing at your cheeky mockingbird and sense of humor :)
What beautiful photos you got of him/her. I think I may have seen one here once, very briefly, but it might have been a catbird. We definitely have a few of those around and I love to see them. They "talk" to me in gravelly voices :)
