Begin the Harvest

I harvested two eggplants yesterday...the first we have ever successfully grown. We are finishing the last of the sweet and crunchy edible podded peas with the warm weather coming on fast and furious. They have been wonderful in salads and soups. There is also lovely leaf lettuce that seems to be producing quite well in the heat of the weather. But the piece de resistance is what my husband waits for all summer long:

  1. You're killing me with the raspberry pictures! In IL we had both red raspberries and tiny wild black raspberries but they can't live here. Your husband is a wise man to choose these favorites, Tabor!

  2. we are floating in strawberries - that is about it for now. we did get 2 jalapeno peppers 2 days ago, and the squash is growing huge which is a great sign. we are waiting on the blueberries to ripen now. need hot sunshine for tomatoes so that wait is a long one. we have been in 60s and low 70s for a couple of weeks.
