These photos are from a canoe trip we took along the May River just outside of Bluffton, S.C. This is the beautiful 'low country' with big oak trees, hanging Spanish moss, and small historic homes. The time is spring before the sound of cicadas and the bite of bugs. Everything is still comfortable and quiet on the river. The oyster dotted marsh is home to the following lovely birds.
Great photos, Tabor. I'm sure you had a wonderful canoe trip. This year, so far, I've only seen the Great Blue Heron in flight, and not around its usual haunts - soon, I hope. The night herons are back though. Lucky you for seeing such fine birds.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. I feel as though I was on the canoe with you.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how you seemingly turn your back for one minute (day/week) and the season changed right then! :) Your trip sounds wonderful, Tabor. The herons are hanging around here at our part of the lake again. There was a white egret outside just yesterday. Your photos are wonderful, girl! (I missed your while you were away.) Glad you're home---the weeds ARE calling. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever ridden in a canoe. So this is what I've been missing...
ReplyDeleteOne more for the bucket list! :)
PS - These shots are beautiful!!
Love the photo of the egret!
ReplyDeleteAnd, funny, just as your blog post came into view I heard some geese honking outside my window. Seemed fitting. :)
